Mary Ann Edwards, 79, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at her home in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date in Galesburg, with burial in Galva Cemetery, Galva. Memorial donations may be given to Crossroads Cancer Center or to the donor's choice.

Mary was born January 1, 1940 in Springfield, the daughter of Edgar and Martha (Ross) Pierce. She married John Armstrong in 1959 and together they had four children. Mary later married William "Bill" Edwards on August 3, 1979 and he preceded her in death in 2000. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham and enjoyed singing in the church choir while living in Galesburg. Mary loved to sew and used her talents to quilt. In 2009, Mary retired from customer service at Dick Blick in Galesburg.

Mary is survived by her children, Julie (Tim) Shambaugh of Toulon, Linda Norman of Effingham, John (Lynn) Armstrong of Galesburg and Kathy Thomas of Effingham; brother, Lee (Gail) Pierce of Colorado; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Bill.
