Mary Catherine Borries, age 73 of Effingham, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, October 14, 2024.

Her family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Mary was born July 7, 1951 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Clarence and Josephine (Coriell) Borries. Mary was a registered nurse in the Effingham area for many years. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, crafting, but most of all, spending her days with Pinky, her beloved dog.

Mary is survived by her siblings, Art (Liz) Borries, Patti McWhorter, Jim (Vickie) Borries, Rita (Kevin) Williams, Nancy (Doug) Dial, Steve (Tess) Borries, Rose (Gary) Aldora, Carol (Jim) Hoelscher, Dan (Darlene) Borries, Grace Borries; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rich;  sister, Alice; nephew, Lucas; and her brother-in-law, Mick McWhorter.
