Marion D. Kosek, 83, of Effingham, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 28, 2013 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 7:00 p.m. parish prayer service. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Marion was born November 20, 1929 in Chicago, the daughter of Walter and Angeline (Lasak) Jarka. She married Edward J. Kosek in July 1, 1950 and he survives. Marion was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway and had previously worked as a cook at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham.

Marion is survived by her husband, Ed of Effingham; nine sons, Randy (Jean) of Yorkville, Blaine (Chris) of Chicago Ridge, Carey (Debbie) of Boulder, CO, Ed Jr. (fiancé, Vicki) of Hickory Hills, Guy (Lisa) of Oak Lawn, Bruce (Denise) of Madison, IN, Glenn (Martha) of Westmont, Scott of Greenup and Greg (Michelle) of Frankfort; five daughters, Connie Ott of Worth, Jodi (Alan) Pastre of Corvalis, OR, Rene (David) Conrad of Burbank, Terri (Rich) Mora of Oak Lawn and Dawn (James) Conrad of Oak Lawn; two brothers, Joe Jarka and Jim Jarka, both of Orland Park; forty-eight grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents.
