Margaret M. Lumetta

Margaret M. Lumetta, 88, formerly of Teutopolis, passed away Thursday 6 August 2026 at Savoy Place Memory Care in Savoy, IL.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday 11 August 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with interment at a later date in the St. Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo, California. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis. Memorial donations may be given to the Yosemite Conservancy.

Margaret was born 5 August 1938 in Dieterich, the daughter of George H. and Mary P. (Kremer) Esker. She married Sam Lumetta on 26 September 1957, and he preceded her in death in 2015. She was an outstanding sibling, aunt, mother, grandmother, and a thoughtful and kind friend to many, an avid and generous baker, and generally a lover of life.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters JoAnn (Alan) Merz and Judy (Joe) DiStefano.

Margaret is survived by her son, Steve (Huyen) of Champaign; grandchildren Andrew, Justin, Juno, Venus, and Ethan; siblings, Marian (Dennis) Smith of Michigan, Sr. Clara Esker S.S.N.D. of Teutopolis, and Michael Esker of Effingham.  She will be missed greatly by many.
