Obituary

Marcella A. "Sally" Hilton, 86 of Montrose, passed away at 3:25 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Montrose with burial in Montrose village cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the church with a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association or to the donor's choice. Sally was born May 31, 1927 in Montrose, the daughter of Elmer and Anna (Faber) Browning. She married Albert E. Hilton in March of 1949 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Sally was a bus driver for Dieterich Unit 30 Schools; she also worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years, retiring as a postmaster. Sally was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Montrose, a member of the church choir and she also served on the parish council.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Ruby (DeLaine) Traub of Louisville; sister, Ruby Harris of Montrose; 11 grandchildren, Jody Hilton, Gwen (Cory) Niebrugge, Brandi (Rodney) Lidy, Zach (Nikki) Hilton, Anna Tipsword, Doug (Cindy) Buenker, Jeff (Sharon) Buenker, Troy (Becky) Traub, Danette (Bryan) Cox, Tammie (Tim) Bohnhoff and Kristy (Duane) Will; 25 great-grandchildren also survive.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert; sons, James and Timothy Hilton; daughters, Barbara Ann Hilton and Wanda Wernsing; sister, Nadine and three brothers, Garnet, Carl and Barney Browning.
