Lorraine Berger, 89 of Effingham, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 4:00 p.m. CCW rosary. Memorial donations may be given to the donor's choice.

Lorraine was born March 4, 1929 in Effingham County, the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Doedtman) Hathe. She married Harold J. Nuxoll on October 8, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1964. She later married Clarence K. Berger in 1972 and he preceded her in death in 1994. Lorraine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. She had a soft spoken voice and was a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn in Effingham for many years. Lorraine loved to play bingo at Evergreen Nursing Center and going to get her hair and nails done.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Dale (Nina) Nuxoll of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughters, Linda (Richard) Knierim of Effingham, Karen Pulliam of Decatur and Betty Nuxoll of Effingham; sister, Joyce (Loy) Cash of Effingham; 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; children, Kenneth, Michael and Jeannie Nuxoll; sister, Wilma Funneman.
