Leroy B. Thoele, 96 of Teutopolis, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2024.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday, January 19, 2024 at St. Francis Catholic Church with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be held at 3:30 pm, followed by visitation from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to Meals on Wheels or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Leroy was born in Effingham on October 25, 1927 to Alf & Anna (Haskenherm) Thoele. He married Dolores Dasenbrock on August 11, 1956. They celebrated 62 years of marriage; she preceded him in death on April 24, 2018.

Leroy was a lifelong farmer and was passionate about his John Deere Tractors. Leroy and his wife, Dory enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, traveling, and being with family. They delivered Meals on Wheels for 26 years and maintained the flowers at St Francis Church for many years. One of Leroy's favorite pastimes was his weekly Pinochle card club. He also took pride in mowing and maintaining his yard until his death.

He was a member of the St. Francis Church, the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus, and the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include his daughters, Monica Niemerg and Kathy Dust; 9 grandchildren: Josh Dust, Jason (Sherri) Dust, Justin (Nikki) Dust, Jacob (Jill) Dust, Amber (Paul) Frohning, Clint (Brittany) Niemerg, Cassandra (Dexter) Hille, Shane Niemerg, and Hanna Niemerg and 12 great-grandchildren: Blake, Clay, Lane, Logyn, Wyatt, Quincy, James, Jaxson, Ethan, Elaina, Gunner, and Lexi.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; siblings, Richard and Martha Thoele, Irene, and Art Buhnerkempe, and Art Dasenbrock; son-in-law, Jim Dust.
