Obituary

LeAnn (Schroeder) Hardiek, 31, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at her home in Effingham surrounded by her loving family.

LeAnn Elizabeth was born June 10, 1983 at St Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, the only child born to Barb (Dust) Starwalt and Jim Schroeder. She was baptized at St. Clare Catholic Church in Altamont and reaffirmed her faith and became a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham. LeAnn attended Effingham public schools, where she excelled in most sports, especially basketball and volleyball. She graduated from Effingham High School in 2001 and received her Associates Degree in English from Lakeland College, Mattoon. LeAnn was a member of Effingham YB Next, a supporter of Relay For Life - Effingham County and was a founder of Effingham "Bras For A Cause".

LeAnn was blessed with two sons. Aiden James was born February 24, 2005 and William Joseph was born September 20, 2006. She was employed by Heartland Dental in Effingham in the Corporate Office Affiliations Department.

LeAnn leaves behind her mother, Barb and step-father, Doug Starwalt of Jewett; father, Jim and step-mother, Kathy (Soltwedel) Schroeder of Effingham. Surviving from her mothers side are her brother, Chad (Sheri) Starwalt and their children Bo and Avery, of Highland; sister, Stacey Starwalt (fiancé, Bobby Cline) and adopted child Nolan of St. Louis; grandparents, Kenny and Wanda Starwalt of Jewett. Surviving from her father's side are her brother, Chris (Chelsea) Lash and son, Colin of Little Rock, sister, Barb (Darrell) Schaal and their children, Justin (fiance, Megan Durbin), Jordan (friend, Wesley) all of Farina; sister, Windy (Danny) Westfall of Champaign; paternal grandmother, Bernice (Klitzing) Schroeder of Effingham and maternal step-grandmother, Marian Dust; LeAnn also leaves behind special friend, James Davis of Effingham; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends.

LeAnn was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, William and Betty Dust; paternal grandfather, Arlin Schroeder and step-grandparents, LeRoy and Rosemary Soltwedel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the church and for one hour prior to funeral service, Monday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Aiden and Will Hardiek Trust Fund, Lincolnland Hospice or to the donor's choice. Online condolences may be left at www.bauerfh.com
