Leah B. Schmohe, 76, passed away at 5:12 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her home in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at a.m., Monday, April 23, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont with burial in Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham and for one hour prior to funeral services, Monday morning at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be put towards special projects at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont.
Leah was born May 2, 1935 in Effingham County, the daughter of James and Verna (Leturno) Beals. She married Joe H. Schmohe on November 29, 1953 and he survives. Leah was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont and was a secretary for Crossroads Press for twenty years.
She is survived by her husband, Joe of Effingham; two sons, Mark (Frances) of Tecumseh, OK and Clay of Shumway; one daughter, Crystal Evans of Dieterich; one sister, Naomi LeCrone of Effingham; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Leah is preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leland, Ivan and Wayne; two sisters, Lorraine Moran and Amy Williams.
