Larry W. Campton, 73 of Dieterich, passed away at 10:55 p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2013 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery, rural Dieterich with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the donor's choice.

Larry was born December 17, 1940 in Effingham, the son of Winfred and Emma (Staggs) Campton. Larry was a retired iron worker out of the local #439 in Terre Haute, IN and had served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Effingham American Legion Post #120 and the Effingham VFW Post #1769. Larry enjoyed hunting, riding horses and had a love for the outdoors.

Larry is survived by his brother, Allen (Pamela) Campton of Shumway; sister, Jean Fruchtl (friend, Jim Probst) of Effingham; nephew, Bruce Fruchtl of Onalaska, WI and niece, Erin Fruchtl of Belleville; special friend, Sara McKinney of Watson; many cousins, friends and neighbors also survive.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bill Fruchtl.
