Koma E. Stewart, 86 of Effingham, passed away at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with entombment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to time of services, Thursday morning at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Koma was born January 24, 1928 in Midland, Michigan, the daughter of Floyd and Rhoda (Davis) Skinner. She married James M. Stewart on December 28, 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1998. Koma was a member of the Illinois National Guard where she served as a payroll clerk. Koma is survived by her three sons, Michael (Leslie) of Palestine, Keith (Carol) of Johnson City and Scott (Beth) of Newton; two brothers, Leland Skinner and William "Bill" Skinner of Ithaca, MI; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Koma was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Helene.
