It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin Matthew Wente announce his unexpected passing on June 5, 2021, at the age of 38.  Kevin resides in Spring, Texas and was in Effingham visiting his family at the time of his passing.  Our hearts are broken.

Kevin was born in Effingham on December 16, 1982.  He graduated from Effingham High School and earned an Associate's degree from LakeLand College.  Kevin spent his most recent years living in Texas escaping the cold Illinois winters.  He was a true sports enthusiast and quoted sports statistics and trivia better than anyone including Alexa.  He was a diehard Cubs and Bears fan and whether they were winning or losing he always watched until the last play of the game.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Don and Rosalie (Hardiek) Wente, Effingham; sisters, Susan (Pat) Sharick, Savoy; Jill (Rick) Ratchford, Spring, Texas; Amy (Brian) Peyres, Bloomington; brothers, Steve (Linda) Wente, Mattoon; David (Jody) Wente, Glen Carbon; Brian (Nicole) Wente, Gurnee along with his 11 nieces and nephews and 5 great-nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 11, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in Saint Francis Teutopolis Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Effingham County Humane Society.
