Karen Ann Johansen, 65, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at her home in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. www.bauerfh.com

Karen was born June 14, 1948 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur J. and Irene B. (Boettcher) Neville. She lived briefly in Antioch, California before moving to Effingham in 1981. Karen graduated with an LPN from Lakeland College in 1983. She was a caring and dedicated nurse who was currently employed at Lakeland Nursing Home in Effingham and had previously worked at Evergreen Nursing Home and Fedders Manufacturing Company.

Karen is survived by her children, Harland Neville of Clermont, FL, Caren (Kenneth) McWhorter of Altamont, Mara Crawford of Sacramento, CA and Therese (Juan) Gonzalez of Monterey, Mexico; sister, Mary Hamlin of Clarksville, Indiana; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
