Karen J. Ashbaugh's Obituary
Karen J. Ashbaugh, 73, of Effingham, passed away at 8:14 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2012 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Shumway United Methodist Church. Visitation will held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, Thursday morning at the church with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family with arrangements. www.bauerfh.com
Karen was born January 27, 1939 in Effingham, the daughter of Clyde and Thelma (Wycoff) Harder. She married Donald "Huck" Ashbaugh on September 15, 1957 and he preceded her in death on January 25, 1995. Karen was a member of the Women's Bowling Association and served as Director of the Effingham housing Authority for many years.
She is survived by her significant other, Dan Heiden of Effingham; two brothers, Gary (Christy) and Kevin (Jean), both of Effingham; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Gail Buenker and Kathy Harder.
