Judy J. Bennett, 84, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2025 at her home in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham with burial in Humboldt Township Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to the time of service, Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Judy was born July 25, 1941 in Humboldt, the daughter of Leslie and Mary (Cook) Hilligoss. She married David L. "Dave" Bennett on May 27, 1961 and he preceded her in death in 2009. Judy was a member of the Effingham Elks B.P.O.E. #1016, an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church, and worked at State Farm in Effingham for many years. In retirement, she loved traveling with friends to destinations all across the United States.

Judy is survived by her son, Jeffery (Tracy) Bennett of St. Joseph; grandson, Nathan Bennett of Monticello; brother, Ben (Marsha) Hilligoss of Chatham; sisters-in-law, Kathie Hilligoss of Mattoon, Mary Barb Hilligoss of Humboldt, and Rhonda Hilligoss of Charleston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Kenneth, James, and Randy Hilligoss.
