Josephine B. Esker, 94 of Effingham, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A memorial mass will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Per Josephine's wishes, her body has been donated to science, but will be entombed in St. Francis Columbarium at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis.
Josephine was born May 9, 1920 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Bernard and Anna (Nuxoll) Esker. She spent most of her life in Chicago working as a waitress in restaurants. Josephine moved back to the area in August of 2011 and has resided at the Villas of Holly Brook in Effingham for the past three years.
She is survived by her sister, Adeline Barclay of Teutopolis and brother, Harold Esker of Cedar Park, Texas. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alberta Lewis; five brothers, Nobert, Arthur, Victor, LeRoy and twin brother, Joseph B. Esker.
