Josephine "Jo" C. Losh, 88, of Effingham passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 5:37 p.m. at St. Anthoiny Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Josephine was born on March 23, 1924, in Lansford, PA., the daughter of Stephen and Julia (Pinkova) Kovach. She married Franklin P. Losh on August 7, 1951 in Suffolk County, England. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1995.

As a First Lieutenant and a Registered Nurse in the U S Air Force, Josephine traveled the world. While stationed in England, she met and fell in love with SSGT. Franklin Losh. Josephine gave up her career, both in the military and as an RN, to stay home and dedicate her life to raising her children and enjoying her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as "Baba".

Josephine never knew a stranger, and was well-liked by all who met her. She had a zest for life and loved to try new things. She was a selfless person who always put others before herself, but she was never without a smile on her face.

Josephine will be Greatly missed by her children: Julie (Bob) Dane of Casey, IL.; Cecelia (Mike) Johnston of Shelbyville, IL.; Alicia (Dennis) Ricketts of Effingham, Il.; Frank (Arlene) Losh of El Nido, CA.; Frances (Russell) Miller of Effingham, IL.; Maria (Thomas) Losh of Albuquerque, NM.; and Andrea (James) Glover of Effingham, IL. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson Adam Franklin and brother, Stephen Kovach.

Josephine's remains were cremated, as per her wishes. Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial mass celebrating Josephine's life will be held at a later date.

The family also wishes to thank Josephine's good friend Frances Bannister, and the staff at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Effingham, IL. for their support and care of Josephine the last few years.
