Obituary

Joseph L. "Junior" Waldhoff, 83 of Shumway, passed away at 12:01 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 7:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church Cemetery Fund.

Joe was born March 21, 1933 in Effingham, the son of Joseph H. and Josephine (Braun) Waldhoff. He attended the Maple Grove School in rural Teutopolis. Joe spent his life working on his family's dairy and grain farm, as well as being a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway. Joe was a longtime member of the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council #2874.

He is survived by his three brothers, Richard F., Leonard (Vicki) and Dale (Carole), all of Shumway; one sister, Lucille A. Reardon of Effingham, many nieces and nephews also survive.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; infant siblings, Robert, Raymond and Mary Waldhoff; brother, Virgil "Bud" Waldhoff; sisters, Marian Seiler and Patricia Schumacher; brothers-in-law, Dan Reardon, John Schumacher and Kenneth Seiler; nephews, Troy Waldhoff, Tom Hartman and Jamie Jordan.
