John E. Vanhorn's Obituary
John E. VanHorn, 56 of Lincoln, formerly of Effingham, passed away Friday evening, March 10, 2017 at Symphony of Lincoln in Lincoln, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to time of services, Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice.
John was born December 6, 1960 in Effingham, the son of Charles and Dolores (Sur) VanHorn. He loved his sports; especially St. Anthony Bulldog's basketball.
John is survived by his brother, Michael VanHorn of Effingham; sister, Linda (Dale) Koester of Effingham and two nephews, Tom VanHorn of Clearwater, FL and Tyler VanHorn of Effingham.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence and Della (Smith) VanHorn and Ben and Mary (Althoff) Sur; his parents; brother, Steve VanHorn; niece, Kim VanHorn; great-niece, Brittney Lynn Genhold, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
