John Arthur Newsome, 56, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday, December 28, 2018 at his home in Effingham, surrounded by his family.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

John was born May 3, 1962 in Chicago, the son of John R. and Francis Newsome. He married Angela McWhorter on May 31, 1986. He joined the Air Force after graduating high school and served for 4 years. John then worked alongside his father at Sim Products as President of Sales. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting with his family. John loved riding his motorcycle as much as he did the mechanics of it. His true passion was for boating with his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Angie of Effingham; daughters, Erica (Randy) Wanis of Fishers, IN, Jacqueline (David) Marrow of Effingham and Danielle (Chris) Blackwell of Huntsville, AL; son, John R. Newsome of League City, TX; grandchildren, Sofia, Olivia and Madeline Blackwell, Jackson and Remy Wanis and Lucille Marrow; father, John R. Newsome of Effingham; sisters, Jeanne Wendt of Effingham, Julie Burke of Naperville and Emilie Newsome of Alton, as well as many other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents and father and mother-in-law.
