John E. "Jack" Fallert, 69, of Sigel died at 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Sigel. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, with a 6:30 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Jack was born Jan. 19, 1941, in Effingham, the son of Ralph and Marie (Bueker) Fallert. He married Mary Beth (Hoene) Harrigan on Nov. 29, 1986.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Sigel, and served 32 years on the Sigel Fire Department, 23 years as assistant chief.
He is survived by his son, Jason of Effingham; three daughters, Audra Welker of Effingham, Elaine Fallert of Litchfield and Jennifer Fallert of Sigel; three stepdaughters, Terry (Rohan) Fernando of Ames, Iowa, Nancy (Mark) Nagel of Plano, Texas, and Kathy (Art) Courbanou of Huntington, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jeff; and one grandson, John Howard Ballinger IV.
