Joe H. Brooks, 91 of Effingham, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Heritage House in Springfield.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to one of the local veteran's organizations that Joe belonged to.

Joe was born March 26, 1928 in Batesville, Arkansas, the son of Tommy and Eva (Clark) Brooks. He married Shirley Ann Pugh on January 29, 1955 and she preceded him in death in 1997. Joe served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Brooks TV & Antenna Service for many years. Joe was a member of American Legion Post #120, V.F.W. Post #1769 and the Effingham D.A.V..

Joe is survived by his daughters, Joyce Cox of Effingham, Jeannie Brooks of Effingham, Jolene (John) Haslett of Terre Haute, IN and Janet (Mark) Bushue of Effingham; brother, O.L. (Patti) Brooks of Dallas, TX and sister, Lena Mae Harris of Batesville, AR; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; wife and three brothers.
