Joan M. Hoedebecke, 77, of Sigel passed away peacefully at 2:35 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2011, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2011 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sigel with burial in St. Michael Cemetery, Sigel. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham with a rosary at 6:30. Memorials may be made to the St. Michael Church or School.
Joan was born December 31, 1933 in Sigel, the daughter of LeRoy and Laura (Schuette) Stuckey. She married Floyd Hoedebecke on December 30, 1954 in Sigel. Joan was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sigel and was also a member of the ladies sodality.
Joan loved to play cards, do crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joan was Gary Morris' #1 fan.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd of Sigel; six children, Kevin (Gail) of Effingham, Vicki (Scott) Hampton of Charleston, Scott (Lisa) of Sigel, David (Patty) of Tuscola, Sheryl (Chris) Long of Sigel and Neil at home; one brother, LeRoy (Gerri) Stuckey of Decatur; half brother, Jim (Carol) Hanfland of Eatonton, GA; 12 grandchildren, Sarah, Tyler & Jordan Hoedebecke, Akira, Mara & Kyra Hampton, Jonas & Noah Hoedebecke, Abbie, Baylie, Caleb & Demmie Long.
She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Frank Hanfland; half brother, Mike Hanfland; twin granddaughters, Hilary and Tiffany; step brother Richard Hanfland; step sisters Eileen Hampton and Mary Hartke.
