James F. "Jim" Waldhoff, 88, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at his home in Teutopolis surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with a 3:45 p.m. rosary and 7:00 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be given to Community Support Systems.
Jim was born September 1, 1933 in Teutopolis, the son of Lawrence and Helen (Hoene) Waldhoff. He married the love of his life AnnaMae Vahling on June 28, 1958; they recently celebrated 64 years together. Jim proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Teutopolis, Knights of Columbus Counsel 2874, Teutopolis American Legion Post #924 where he served as a Post Commander. He started James Waldhoff General Construction in 1962. The quality of his work is well known throughout the community.
Jim is survived by his wife, AnnaMae of Teutopolis; children, Janet (Randy) Probst of Bishop Creek, Linda (Mark) Brummer of Bishop Creek, Don, Glen (Sharon) Waldhoff of Teutopolis, Roger (Katie) Waldhoff of Bishop Creek and Carl (Tricia) Waldhoff of Teutopolis. He was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Bernie (Mary) Waldhoff, Larry (Barbara) Waldhoff; sisters, Anna Mae (Don) Bushur, Ruth (Gene) Brummer; In-laws, Clarence Vahling, Harold (Jane) Vahling, Lenny (Madonna) Vahling, Don (Barb) Vahling, Doris (Bill) Walk and many nieces and nephews.
He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, two granddaughters, Dana Brummer and Elizabeth Waldhoff and sister-in-law, Marilyn Vahling.
Jim's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Eric Bloemer, St. Anthony Memorial Hospital 3rd floor nurses, Hospice Nurses, and SPS Home Care.
