Jerry Lloyd Summitt, 60, of Effingham passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017, at St.John's Hospital in Springfield.
As per Jerry's wishes, a graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Oakridge Cemetery in Effingham. Darin Hansen of New Hope Church of Effingham will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude's children's hospital. The family and friends of Jerry Summitt wishes to thank St. Johns Hospital for their care of him.
Jerry was born in Memphis, TN, on June 16, 1956. Jerry's father was the late J.L. Summitt and Sudie Mae (Diggs) Summitt.
Jerry was currently employed at Peerless in Effingham, prior to that he was employed at Stevens Industries in Teutopolis.
Jerry is survived by his brother, Gary Summitt of Ft Worth, TX; and sister, Barbara Marple of El Cajon, CA. Jerry is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved dogs, Duke and Goof.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother; father; brothers, Frank and Bill; and sister, Dorothy.
