Obituary

Jeanette A. Bergfeld, 87 of Teutopolis, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 surrounded by her family at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis with a prayer service to follow. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church. Jean was born September 8, 1927 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Robert and Gertrude (Nuxoll) Pruemer. She married Joseph S. Bergfeld in Teutopolis on September 14, 1946 and he survives. Jean was a devoted wife, mother and was a hardworking farmer's wife. Jean enjoyed cooking and playing cards with her family. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and a 1945 graduate of Teutopolis High School.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Joseph of Teutopolis; children, Steve (Judy) of Effingham, Ken (Pam) of Watson, Brenda (Jesse) Ketteman of Effingham and Thad (Janet) of Effingham; grandchildren, Dustin (Alicia ) Harkins of Mt. Vernon, Dacia (Greg) Albin of Effingham, Emily (Adam) Bagley of Brighton, Fran Bergfeld (finance, Brad Kuhns), Matthew Dalton of Nason, Mark (Jaci) Dalton of Fairmont, WV, Luke (Nikki) Dalton of St. Louis, MO, John (Stephanie) Dalton of Sesser and Danielle, Jacob and Adam of Teutopolis; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Dylan Harkins, Jeffery and Henry Bagley, Maya and Jace Dalton, Adelia and Amelia Dalton, Jaylee Higgins and Alexis Albin; two brothers, Tom (Ramona) Pruemer of Effingham and Dennis Pruemer of Teutopolis; three sisters, Connie Rieman of Teutopolis, Judy Colburn of Effingham and Doris (Larry) Hakman of Brazil, IN; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald and brothers-in-law, Clarence Rieman and Fred Colburn.
