Janet A. Flach, 85 of Effingham, passed away at 9:38 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anthony Grade School.
Janet was born June 15, 1928 in Effingham, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Repking) Habing. She married Francis P. "Fran" Flach on July 24, 1948 and he preceded her in death in 2002. Janet was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, St. Anthony Council of Catholic Women, Catholic Daughter of the Americas Court #720 and the Altar Sodality. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Janet is survived by her three sons, Paul (Maureen) of Dallas, TX, Michael (Janet) of St. Louis, MO and Joseph (Jenny) of St. Charles, MO; three daughters, Marie (James) Burton of Neoga, Brenda (Bobby) Browning of Mattoon and Barbara (Martin) Littleton of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Marilyn (Dennis) Noonan of Decatur, Sister Mary Barabara SSND of St. Louis, MO, Elaine Sieben of Effingham; Geraldine Miller of Effingham and Ruth Swingler of Sigel; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren also survive.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fran; brother, Herman Habing; sisters, Paulette Zimmerman, Anna Mae Gillespie, Rita Habing and Norma Worman.
