James L. Rhodes, 84 of Effingham, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Green Creek, at a later date. Memorial donations may be given to St. Anthony Schools.

Jim was born February 28, 1936 in Effingham, the son of Donald L. Sr. and Clara (Utz) Rhodes. He married Alice K. Meyer on February 16, 1963 and was a United States Air Force veteran. He was the owner/founder of Rhodes Insurance Agency in Effingham for more than 20 years.  Jim enjoyed servicing many customers in the Effingham area.  He was also a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665.

Jim is survived by his wife, Alice of Effingham; children, Bob (Jernice) Rhodes of Effingham, Brad (Renee) Rhodes of Kirkland, Washington and Lynn (Jon) Kelly of Bartlett, Illinois; grandchildren, Maria, Jessica and Mike Rhodes, Allison Baker, Nick Rhodes, Addie, Morgan and Sydney Kelly; great-grandchildren, Pedro, Alejandro and Lorelai.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Rhodes and sister, Evelyn Krone.
