James Allen Moon, 79 of Dieterich, passed away at 3:24 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at H.S.H.S. St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or to the donor's choice.

James was born March 20, 1936 in Effingham, the son of Henry A. and Opal (Vaultenberg) Moon. He married Loretta M. Dust and she preceded him in death. James later married Evelyn Juanita Mulvaney on July 13, 1968 and she preceded him in death on May 10, 2015.

James retired in 1998 from Fedders after 38 years of service. He served in the United States Army and enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing, as well as riding his 4-wheeler. For several years, he owned and operated Moonskins Bar in Jewett. James was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Effingham Knights of Columbus.

James is survived by his son, James A. Moon, Jr. (Joanne) of Eureka, MO and daughter, Theresa M. (Andrew) Dame of Willow Grove, PA; two brothers, Charlie and Jerry Moon; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Loretta; wife, Evelyn; sisters, Henrietta Backs, Evelyn Flowers, Eileen Dukeman and Adeline Moon; brother, Robert Eugene Moon.
