James T. Cahill, 84 of Teutopolis, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at H.S.H.S. St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Francis Catholic Church, Fear Nothing or The Cross.
James was born May 6, 1931 in Chicago, the son of Timothy and Violet (Misch) Cahill. He married Joan M. Hauser on February 9, 1980 and she survives. James was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and the Coles County Corvette Club. He was a gas station attendant, auto body repairman and served as a policeman. James was also a museum guide at Mid-America Motorworks and was a claims superintendent for State Farm for 34 years.
James is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Penny (Joel) Case; son, Timothy; step-son, Clifford (Alicia) Faust; son-in-law, Jim Zimay; grandchildren, Brandon (Susan) Juskey, Zack Zimay, Amber Zimay, Gregory Zimay, Raquel Cahill and James Cahill; step-grandchildren, Eva Jane and Laura Lillian Faust; great-grandchild, Gabrielle Juskey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Cindy Zimay.
