James L. "Whitey" Borries, Sr., 85 of Teutopolis, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the church with a parish wake service to follow. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Catholic Church, Alzheimer's Association or to the donor's choice. James was born July 29, 1929 in Teutopolis, the son of Bernard Joseph and Agnes Borries. He married Betty E. Greenwood on August 31, 1957 in Flora and she preceded him in death in 2006. James was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and was a plumber for Weber Brothers for 20 years. He also served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

James is survived by his three sons, James, Jr. of Effingham, Joseph (friend, Pam) of Effingham and Jeff of Teutopolis; daughter, Jane (David) Spiker of Teutopolis and three grandchildren, Parker Borries, Keegan (Tiffany) Spiker and Kolby Spiker; great-grandchild, Jayden Spiker.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; sister, Mary Lou Borries and brother, Bernard Borries. '
