Irene M. Knight, 85 of Effingham, passed away at 10:10 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham with burial in Arborcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham and Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Irene was born April 18, 1929 in rural Watson, the daughter of Emil and Lydia (Traub) Schmohe. She married Charles C. Knight on April 5, 1953 and he preceded her in death in 1997. Irene was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham.

Irene is survived by her children, Doris (John) Schutzbach of New Lenox, Keith (Alice) of Effingham, Linda (A.J.) Luckett of New Lenox and Lisa (Dave) Bradley of Marshall, NC; sister, Leora (Lindy) Huelskoetter of Sun City, AZ and brother, Leonard (Sandy) Schmohe of Springfield; grandchildren, Brian, Jeffrey, Nicholas, Emily, Phillip, Andrew, Rachael, Jenna, Austin, Skyla and Madison.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son John, infant sister and infant grandson, Michael.
