Hilda A. Davis, 89 of Effingham, passed away at 8:52 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Hilda was born May 17, 1925 in Dieterich, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Voss) Niemerg. She married Noble A. Davis on October 8, 1967 and he preceded her in death in 2006. Hilda retired from St. Anthony Memorial Hospital after 34 years. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham and the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary.

Hilda is survived by her two step-daughters, Sharon (John) Wonus of Beecher City and Janice (Jean) Kinkelaar of Effingham; niece, Pat (Jeff) Kritzman of Buffalo Grove; nephew, Steve (Donna) Hartke of Champaign; step-grandchildren, Cindy (Mel) Stewart, Jeremy (Kelly) Kinkelaar and Jeff (Jodi) Kinkelaar; six step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandson.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Wilford "Barney" Niemerg, two sisters, Dolores Hartke and Marie Niemerg; nephew, Bruce Hartke.
