Helen E. Raddatz, 71 of Effingham, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 20, 2014 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with entombment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Stroke Association.

Helen was born October 17, 1942 in Chicago, the daughter of Elvin and Eleanor (Brenner) Poe. She married John H. Raddatz in 1961 and he survives.

Helen is survived by her husband, John of Effingham; four sons, John M. (Veronica) of Chicago, David (Sarah), Thomas (Mollie) and James (Tara), all of Effingham; two daughters, Kathleen Lankford of Effingham and Christine (Tom) Russell of Chicago; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents.
