Helen M. Mayhaus' Obituary
Helen M. Mayhaus, 94 of Effingham, passed away at 9:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Schools or to the donor's choice.
Helen was born March 24, 1920 in McCrory, Arkansas, the daughter of Lawrence and Helena (Braun) Stuckey. She married Clarence J. Mayhaus on August 2, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1997. Helen was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, St. Anthony Council of Catholic Women and enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
Helen is survived by her two sons, Larry (special friend, Becky) of Effingham and Don of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter, Betty (Melvin, Sr.) Hirtzel of Effingham; six grandchildren, Chris (Mallory), Jarred (fiance, Julie), Heather, Melvin Sr. and David;one great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; five brothers, one sister and one granddaughter, Angie.
