Helen P. Haarmann, 93, passed away at 9:16 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home in Mason.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edgewood with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, with a 4:00 p.m. parish rosary. Memorials may be made to Catholic Charities or to the donor's choice.

Helen was born on January 16, 1923, the daughter of John and Catherine (Kroeger) Sandschafer. She married Leo L. Haarmann on October 6, 1945 and he preceded her in death in 2010. Helen was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Edgewood, St. Anne's Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Helen is survived by her seven sons, Raymond of Effingham, Larry (Tina) of Effingham, Steve (Sharon), Charles (JoAnn), Mike (Renee), Randy (Kara), Melvin (special friend, Diane), all of Mason; seven daughters, JoAnn (Steve) Dittamore of Montrose, Martha Tucker (special friend, Dave) of Mt. Auburn, Lorraine (Marcus) Cisneros of Sylmar, CA, Judy (Mike) Grubaugh of Mason, Rose (Kenny) Birch of Effingham, Juanita (Doug) Dial of St. Elmo and Lisa (Ted) Rhodes of Teutopolis; 37 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Clem, Harry, John, Alphonse and Barney Sandschafer; four sisters, Josephine Willenborg, Matilda Mette, Luella Dettert, Marie Bussman; grandson, Craig Grubaugh and two great-grandchildren, Kaliya Dittamore and Lilly Haarmann.
