Harold H. (Bud) Zehner, 75, of Toccoa, Georgia, died peacefully at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, South Carolina.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22nd at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Effingham with burial to follow in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 6:30 p.m. parish rosary. Contributions may be made to St. Anthony School Adopt a Student Program or the School Sisters of Notre Dame, 320 E. Ripa Ave., St. Louis, MO 63125-2897.
Bud was born September 10, 1936, in Effingham, the son of Herman and Bridget (Buehnekemper) Zehner. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Master of Science degree. Bud worked as a Hydro-geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey in numerous offices throughout the country. He served his country as a United States Marine, was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Atlanta, Georgia, and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by four sisters, Norma Wernsing of Effingham, Sidona Frazier of Terre Haute, Bernice Maier of Wisconsin, and Mary Lou Engle of Danville; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Katy and Tim Hale of Toccoa, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Kenter; brothers, John (Jack) Zehner and infant Bobby.
