Gertrude O. Schottman, 95, of Wheeler, passed away at 3:42 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Montrose with burial in St. Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2011 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice.

Gertrude was born on November 17, 1915 in Island Grove, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Adams) Jansen. Gertrude married Walter Schottman on May 1, 1943 in Teutopolis and he preceded her in death in 1983. She was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Montrose.

She leaves behind six sons, Robert (Carole) of Oregon, Carl (Judy) of Dieterich, Fred (Aletha) of Arlington, Virginia, Ron of Wheeler, Paul of Effingham and Mark (Elizabeth) of Effingham; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and five sisters.
