Gerald P. "Jerry" Stock, 90 of Effingham, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield with his family by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a 6:30 p.m. Knight of Columbus rosary. Memorial donations may be given to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Jerry was born October 13, 1931 in Fayette County, the son of Paul and Mae (McDevitt) Stock. He married Patricia A. Probst on July 13, 1957. Jerry was self-employed as a plasterer, painter, and wallpaperer. He loved bird hunting with his friends, especially in Iowa, and fishing with his buddies. Jerry was also an avid card player and a long-time fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Pat of Effingham; son, Richard of Effingham; daughters, Leann (Paul) Pickel of Owaneco and Donna (Jeff) McWhorter of Strasburg; daughter-in-law, Cindy Stock of Effingham; six grandchildren, Jady (A.J.) Friese, Casey (Brad) Esker, Louis (Natalee) McWhorter; Jordan (Tori) Stock, Miranda (Chad) Kemp, and Kayla (Jason) Richmond; eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip; brothers, George and Bill; sister, Loretto Sigrist and grandsons, Derek McWhorter and Brandon Stock.
