Gerald John Bueker, 73 of rural Sigel, passed away at 6:06 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Sigel, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the church, with a parish rosary at 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Michael School. Gerald was born August 10, 1942 in Effingham, the son of John and Selma (Thoele) Bueker. He married Brenda J. Courtright on January 25, 1964. Gerald was a lifelong dairy and grain farmer, who greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. He also loved reading, watching westerns, and teasing his grandkids.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Brenda of Sigel; his children, Brian Bueker of Sigel, Bruce (Carol) Bueker of Sigel and Carla (Roger) Jansen of Effingham; brother, Dennis (Donna) Bueker of Sigel; seven grandchildren, Shayna (Zach) Meinhart of Louisville, Logan, Hannah, Jolene and Taylor Bueker of Sigel, and Luke and Leah Jansen of Effingham; great-grandchild, Kamden Meinhart. Also surviving are step-siblings Pauline Grunloh of Teutopolis, Linda (Mike) Kreke of Teutopolis, Don (Fran) Zumbahlen of Effingham, Tom (Dot) Zumbahlen of Effingham, and many nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Henry Zumbahlen; sister, Jean Kuhns; father-in-law, Jack Courtright; brother-in-law, Darrell Kuhns and an infant grandson, James Bueker.
