Obituary

George F. Brumleve, 81, of Teutopolis passed away at 3:40 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chuch with a 6:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Bauer Funeral Home, Teutopolis, is assisting the family with arrangements.

George was born Dec. 13, 1930, in Teutopolis, the son of Albert and Mary (Dust) Brumleve. He married Verena L. Beckman on May 12, 1956, and she survives.

George was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis, Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council 2874 and Teutopolis American Legion Post 924. He was owner/operator of George Brumleve & Sons Electric. Throughout the years, he also owned and operated George Brumleve Trucking, was a farmer and managed his own apartments, and was also co-owner of a laundromat and a tavern. George was a former volunteer fireman in Teutopolis and also served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

George had many hobbies prior to his stroke 27 years ago, but he particularly enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He also spent time piloting his small plane, motorcycling, doing leatherwork and camping. George was a hard worker, but he also knew how to enjoy life.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, George is survived by three sons, Dennis, Greg and Ted (wife, Karlene), all of Teutopolis; one daughter, Margaret (Kevin) McCullough of Greencastle, Ind.; brother, Stanley (Mary) Brumleve of Grand Forks, N.D.; three sisters, Agnes Koester Wolf of Effingham, Elizabeth Westjohn of Tolono and Mary Catherine Brumleve of Manteca, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Donald; three brothers, Timothy, Paul and infant Albert; and one sister, Clara.
