David Gary Leon Elliott, 79 of Mattoon, passed away Saturday morning, November 25, 2017 at Cumberland Rehabilitation and Health Care in Greenup.

A memorial service will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Jake's Discount Carpet in Mattoon.

Gary was born May 6, 1938 in Toledo, the son of Elmer and Erna (Gast) Elliott. He married Sofia "Sally" Angeles on November 4, 1958 and had four children. Gary then married Patricia Ann Kelly Dow on September 4, 1984.

Gary made a career in the trucking and carpet business, as a driver and later a dispatcher. He worked for Diepohlz Trucking, Service Equipment and was part-owner of D & M Trucking in Clay City. After leaving the trucking business, he and Patty opened Discount Carpets in Danville. Patty passed away on March 17, 2001 and Gary moved back to Mattoon and worked for Jake's Discount Carpets for the past 15 years.

Gary is survived by his first wife, Sally and children, Rosa Davidson, Gary (September) Elliott, Jr., Darla Carter, Johnny Vasquez, Mike (Peggy) Dow, Crystal (Brad) Kelley and Shawn Dow; brothers, Randy (Donna) Elliott and Richard Elliott; grandchildren, Marcia (Rich) Carroll, Lisa (Matt) Thomas, Jo Lynn Davidson, Michael D. (Angela) Davidson, Kaitlyn Carl, Chris (Bailey) Carter, Nicholas Carter, Hayden Carter, Chelsea (Darwin) Thiele, Chalee (Jeremy) Brown, Chris (Rachel) Dow, Jimmy Know, Patty Ann Kelley, Kambri (Curt) Hinds, Hannah Dow and Nicholas Dow; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Olivia Carroll, Victoria, Hannah, Landon and Braylee Carter, Addie and Asher Thiele, Judah Brown, Elliott Davidson, Gracie Dow, Cannon Dow, Mia Hinds and Ella Hinds.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia; brothers, Don, Lonnie, Larry, Bill and Jerry Elliott and brother, Wesley Mefford; sister, Kathren Mann.
