Gary Andes, 80 of Effingham, passed away at 11:10 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2012 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart School. www.bauerfh.com

Gary was born May 23, 1932 in Mattoon, the son of Garnet and Bertha (Miller) Andes. He married Susann M. Bierman on September 1, 1956 and she survives. Gary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, the Effingham American Legion Post #120, member and former board member of the Effingham Country Club and was inducted into the Effingham Men's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Gary served with the United States Air Force and was stationed at Okinawa during the Korean War. He retired as a supervisor at Fedders Corporation after nearly forty years of service.

Gary is survived by his wife, Susann of Effingham; son, Chip (Beth) Andes of Effingham; two daughters, Layne (Alan) Millburg of Effingham and Leigh (David) DeWitt of Strongsville, OH; six grandchildren, Michael Andes, Kirsten (Eric) Mattson, Ashtyn (Andy) Ehrlich, Ally Millburg, Ellen and Sam DeWitt.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eileen Overbeck.
