Frederick "Fred" Skrobot, 78, of Effingham died at 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, with burial in Oakridge Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be for two hours prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. Skrobot was born Sept. 15, 1932, in Buffalo, N.Y., the son of Alexander and Alice (Kocsa) Skrobot. He married Delores Wakefield on Oct. 13, 1956.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was retired from Fedders Corp. after 38 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of Effingham; sons, James (wife, Lynn) of Charlotte, N.C., Paul (wife, Miriam) of Coral Springs, Fla., and Brian (wife, Lauren) of Weldon; daughter, Diane (Chris) Hagler of Newburgh, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and six sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
