Evelyn J. Moon, 77 of Dietrich, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, May 10, 2015 at H.S.H.S. St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning at the funeral home. Evelyn was born March 8, 1938 in Kinmundy, the daughter of Raymond A. and Edith Ann (Crain) Mulvaney. She married James A. Moon, Sr. on July 13, 1968 and he survives. Evelyn retired in 2003 from Fedders after 33 years of service. She enjoyed singing and playing country music, as well as playing Yatzee and Bingo. Gardening, fishing and hunting mushrooms were also among her favorite things to do. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, James of Dieterich; son, James A. Jr. (Joanne) of Eureka, MO; daughter, Theresa (Andrew) Dame of Willow Grove, PA; two brothers, Mal Mulvaney of Vancouver, WA and Gerald Mulvaney of Alma; three sisters, Louise Merritt of Fairfield, Linda (James "Pete") Birk of Lincoln and Trudy Baker of Longview, TX; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Homer Mulvaney; three sisters, Margaret Gain, Bernice Bryant and Dorothy McCarthy.
