Evelyn Haarman, 74 of Effingham passed away peacefully Monday, June 10 at Lakeland Nursing Home in Effingham, where she had been a resident for the past 18 years. She fought a courageous battle for 60 years from encephalitis, which is now a strain of West Nile Virus from an infected mosquito.

Evelyn's wishes were to be cremated, A private memorial mass will be held at St.Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove on Thursday, June 13, 2019, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made in her honor to Catholic Charities.

Evelyn was born on December 20, 1944 the daughter of Louis & Marie (Hardiek) Haarman. She is survived by her brother, Leroy (Wanda) Haarman of Wheeler, sister Marcella (Art) Bierman of Dieterich, Marilyn (Ed) Smithenry of Newton, Betty (Mike) Smithenry of Newton, Deloris (Bernie) Bergeld of Teutopolis, Linda Streich of Henderson, NV,  Diana (Richard) Worman of Effingham. & many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bobby & David, sister Irene, who died in infancy, brother-in-law Art Bierman, & nephew Cliff Bierman.
