Esther C. Walk, 90 of Effingham, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham, with a 3:45 p.m. rosary. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice.

Esther was born October 4, 1926 in Effingham, the daughter of George and Philomena (Althoff) Haarman, Sr. She married Clarence Walk, Jr. on June 22, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1998. Esther was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham and worked for over twenty years as a housekeeper at the Ramada Inn in Effingham.

Esther is survived by her son, Ted (Debbie) of Chesapeake Beach, MD; three daughters, Mary Lou (Harold) Hardiek of Teutopolis, Jane (Craig) Welch of Effingham and Deeann (Mike) Hammach of McLeansboro; brother-in-law, Frank Esker; sisters-in-law, Audrey Walk and Sherry Walk; ten grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and eleven great-step-grandchildren.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary; brother, George, Jr.; sister, Betty Ann Esker; three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
