Esther was born March 7, 1927 in Chicago, the fourth child of Andrew and Antoinette Gdowski. Esther married Henry Poterucha on December 27, 1947 in Chicago.
Esther was a very caring and loving person who never spoke ill of anyone. She devoted her life to her family and taught them not only curiosity and wonder but also a love of nature and others. Her sweet and caring spirit was often expressed with a hug, a touch or a loving note. In addition to her family, she enjoyed spending time beautifying her flower beds, tempting palates with her culinary skills and singing in the church choir until her disease took her voice. Her courage and undaunted faith in the face of this loss continued to touch those around her until the end.
She is survived by her husband and her children, Kathy (Hank) Bonutti of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Michael Poterucha of Rochester, MN, Thomas (Terri) Poterucha of Rochester, MN, John (Bonnie) Poterucha of Rochester, MN, and Jeannie (Bill) Poterucha-Carter of Rochester, MN; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; Henry's parents; sisters, Rose and Jean, and her brother, Stan.
We wish to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and visits during Esther's final days. We are also grateful to all the caregivers who cared for Esther, especially Drs. Allen Aksamit, John Bachman, Tad Mabry, Chuck Runde along with the wonderfully caring staff at Seasons Hospice.
