Obituary

Ella Mae Lewis, 83, of Winter Park, Florida, formerly of Effingham, passed away at 4:40 a.m., June 7th, 2012 after losing her fight with Leukemia.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with a visitation being held for one hour prior to services. Ella will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Effingham. Her family wishes that donations be made to the "Wounded Warrior Project" in her honor. Ella was born March 26, 1929 in Macomb, the daughter of Earl and Cordia (Bice) Kline. She married Lyman L. Lewis and he preceded her in death in 1974.

Ella Mae was a retired teacher of 36 years at Neoga Elementary School. She owned Nature's Way Health food store in downtown Effingham. She was the secretary of Belles and Beaus of Orlando, Florida. Her many joys in life included caring for her grandchildren, traveling, dancing, gardening and knitting. Known to many as Miss Ellie, she loved her family, God and her country.

She is survived by her five children, Cathy (George) Wenthe of Effingham, Cindy (friend, Tomas) Lewis of Winter Park, FL, Tim (Tami) of Charleston, Stephen of Los Angeles, CA and Tad (Melody) of Winter Park, FL; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents and husband, Lyman "Lou" Lewis.
