Elizabeth M. "Betty" Koeberlein Schottman, 96 of Teutopolis, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Lavender Ridge in Effingham.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church, with a 5:00 p.m. combined C.D. of A and C.C.W. rosary and a 7:00 p.m. parish wake service. Memorials may be made to Teutopolis Unit 50 Library System.
Betty was born October 26, 1919 in Teutopolis, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Mueller) Schneider. She married Benard Koeberlein on December 27, 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1992. Betty then married Arthur Schottman on November 19, 1999 and he preceded her in death in 2013. She was a secretary for Allied Oil in St. Elmo and later for Homer Luttrel Oil. Betty was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis, St. Francis Council of Catholic Women and the Effingham Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was a member of the Toastmistresses, American Red Cross, Secular Franciscans, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer at The Cross.
Betty is survived by her step-daughter, Ann (Douglas) Knol of Madison, WI; friends, Kent (Julie) Probst, Leroy (Dolores) Thoele and Frank (Laurie) Miller; three step-grand-children, Nicholas, Molly, and Max.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and both her husbands.
